Anna's Milestones

This page is exactly what it means. I will let you know when she has reached those oh-so-important milestones! A time-line of sorts.

11/28/01 - 7 months 1 day:

* Anna is now rolling both ways quite well. She will roll to get a toy she cannot reach and back again to play with it.

* She can now put her bottle in her mouth and hold it for quite awhile. She can also finally master putting her pacifier in her mouth.

* Anna is becoming quite vocal- she still ooh's and goo's, and learning how to clap!

* She got her first tooth on 11/18/01, on the bottom!!!!

To come shortly:

** Mastering sitting on her own, scooting, crawling, clapping, babbling (ma ma, da da, ba ba). Please check back often for her updates!

December 13, 2001-

* Anna is now able to sit for a few minutes without assistance!

* She is beginning to show interest in rolling all over the place to get to where she wants to go.

* Right now, she can pull herself to sitting from being in her bouncer or swing.

Keep coming back for further updates!

December 22, 2001:

Anna will be 8 months old on the 27th. She is seeming to wave at us. I am not sure yet, but think that is what she is trying to do. She wants to be a part of everything that goes on around the house. If someone is doing something and she cannot see it, she will cry. Anna still has not got to sit up for very long, no real progress there yet. She is rolling more and faster at that. Look for more updates after the New Year.

Have a Safe & Happy Holiday!

March 25, 2002--

Anna is now almost 11 months old, 2 days shy.  She started to crawl in the middle of February, and I missed it due to being in the hospital :-(
She has 8 teeth, and more on the way.  She got most of her teeth in the month of February also, missed that too lol!
Anna has a few words that she very clearly says:  "Grandma", "Granddad", "Dada", "Mama", "Dog", "Yes", "Huh?" (funny eh, but my mother in law is hard of hearing and she says that quite often lol), and we thought we heard her say "Grover" (which is the dogs' name at my MIL's house!).
She certainly has come a long way.  Her skin is looking good now, her left outside calf has a lot of dark pigmentation- quite a large area, nearly the whole side.  Her right leg has a lot of streaking where there is no pigmentation, as do both of her inside forearms.  Her stomach has a few new areas of dark pigmentation.  Her hair is coarse and thin (although she does have a headfull, just thin).  Her eyes are still blue (YAY! My other 2 have brown eyes).
Anna is showing a very big interest in eating regular food.  She likes baby food still, as long as nobody else is eating around her.  She thinks everything is for her LOL.  She is finally sleeping through the night, most nights.
She got her first boo boo on Saturday, fell down 2 stairs and just has a red mark on her cheek.  Cried for awhile, but Doctor in the ER said she was fine.  Amazing how resilient children are.  My luck, I would have broke my ankle or something!
Thank you for reading her update, will do so again soon.

April 17, 2002--

Anna went to her well-baby visit on April 4.  She is now 21.6 lbs & 28" long.  She is perfect weight for her age, right on the midline, and her length USED to be on the midline- but now is on the lowest normal line.  Anna had her first Early On visit today since I have been home from the hospital.  Carol re-evaluated Anna, and it looks as though everything, so far, is on track except for her gross motor skills.  She is behind there, I already knew that.  She will get there, just will take her a little longer.

Anna will have more specialist appointments in May & June.  I will update again then, sooner if she starts doing something new :-)

Thanks for reading!

May 12, 2002--

This weekend, Anna learned how to pull herself up to standing.  She is pulling up on everything imaginable!  Today, she walked along the couch for the very first time to get a toy.  My baby is growing up to be a big girl.

Her Early On lady, Carol, did her IDA (infant developemental assessment) on April 24, 2002.  Her gross motor skills are most delayed- she is at about 7 1/2 to 8 month age level.  Everything else is pretty much on time.

Anna still has only 7 teeth.  She goes to the dentist on August 14.  Hopefully, she will have more by then.

January 3, 2003-

Anna will be 2 this coming April.  She began to walk on September 4, 2002.  It was great!  She is beginning to talk now.  Anna says very few selected words- ball (bop), mom, dad, gramma (mom-mom), grandad (dad-dad), cup, hi, hello, dog, kitty, butt, and a few others that I cannot think of right now.  Anna is doing well.  She is still a very impatient child.  Does NOT want to wait for anything.  Anna has been battling a cold for about a month on & off again.  She had a fever of 102 last night & this morning.  Right now, she seems to be doing just fine.  Her eyes were checked in November and are just fine.  The Ophthalmologist does not want to see her again til 11/03.

Anna is slow in growing her hair out.  It is so wirey & unruly.  I call it "crazy hair".  (ha ha ha).  She still needs to get all her eye teeth, and 2 year molars.  She is still a "binky" baby.  Anna is very intelligent... understands pretty much everything you say to her- it is really amazing.  She is a tough cookie.  Holds her own ground pretty good when it comes to her siblings picking on her occasionally.

Anna still shows very mild developmental delay in fine motor skills, I think she will be just fine.

Look for more updates soon!

May 28, 2003 --

Well, Anna has been 2 for 1 month and a day now.  I was concerneed about her language development about 2 weeks ago, but her speech has tremendously improved within that time.  She is really beginning to learn how to talk!  She is very leary of bugs, like spiders.  Anna is very intelligent, but sometimes is a slow learner.  She is using 2 - 3 words at a time quite often.  Her legs are still very slender.  She has what I like to call "chicken legs".   Anna is so petite.  She is a dainty little flower.  I always tell her that she is sooo special.  Some people may call their children that came unplanned a mistake, but Anna -- she is my "surprise" baby.  Couldn't have had a better surprise.  Anna is the best child.  She is a clean baby, doesn't like to be dirty in any way, cleans up after herself.   There is so much yet I have to learn about IP and the way it is going to affect the rest of her life.  I feel like I have to really keep an eye on her development & I am always afraid of her getting hurt, like having a broken arm or something.  I think my fears are more so that of the unknown... what is yet to come?  She has 4 baby teeth like "look like" they are conical.  Certainly are triangular.  But they are all coming in so far, slow, but good.

I will update again soon.  Look for pictures by the end of the summer at the latest.  I have to fix the computer to upload them :-)

A few things have happened with Anna as of late.  She lost one fingernail.  It had a warty lesion underneath the nail and it lifted and fell off within a 48 hour period.  It still has not grown back.  It looks terrible.  If it doesn't clear up within the next week - I am going to have to take her in.  I advised her dermatologist that when I call I have to bring her in IMMEDIATELY b/c there are things that happen so quickly and I am afraid.  With IP, you just never know.  They do know a little bit about it, but there can always be something they have not yet seen.  I want to make sure Anna gets the best care possible.  It is time for her yearly eye check up within the next 8 weeks.  I have to call and make the appointment.  I am going to take her to a different Ophthalmologist - the one who checks my eyes.  They are wonderful there and the Dr I spoke with that sees children as young as Anna is eager to examine her.

She has grown up so quickly lately.  She is still quite small for her age - 30# & 32".  Anna is speaking in sentences that are understandable.  She is learning how to jump, a little bit - she has the jist of it.  Anna is showing interest in using the potty finally.  But I think it will be a long road in front of us on the subject of potty training.  Anna has sat and used it though.

I will update again when I have a moment and something happens.

Best to you & yours!

Cindy & Anna.

Just letting you know that Anna is doing fine developmentally now.  She had chicken pox last month.  Lasted the normal amount of time.  She was the only one of the three not immunized against it yet... well, now she doesn't need the vaccine.

Check back soon, I will update as needed.
